This is a difficult time for all, especially those in our community who are most vulnerable. We have established a Care Committee to help those in our community who need additional support at this time.

Sacred Heart Church in St Kilda west was dedicated on 7th December 1884 with construction completed in 1922.
In 1914 the land where St Columba’s school and church now stand in Elwood was purchased. The school was built and opened first in 1918 and the church completed and opened in 1929.

In April 1918 the School was opened and was run under the guidance of the Presentation Sisters with Mother Anthony Patterson as the first principal.
In 1982, Parish Priest Father Ernie Smith opened his door and shared a meal with a man who was hungry and experiencing homelessness.
It was this first act of generosity which led to the formation of Sacred Heart Mission to provide the basic necessities of life to people experiencing homelessness and disadvantage in the local community.

First Friday of March, June, September & December – 11am Healing & Anointing Mass, followed by light lunch (no 9am Mass)
6.00pm Vigil Mass
